48 members braved the grey skies and made their way to the Bays Club, Browns Bay, for lunch on Wednesday 24 August.
Luckily, the weather stayed mostly dry, with only a few showers, which was fortunate as parking in the Bays is following the rest of Auckland in being at a premium and some members had to walk a little distance or risk the attentions of the ever vigilant parking wardens.
The lunch Menu was as good as ever with a choice of two starters and a good selection of tasty mains which appeared to satisfy everyone, followed by a choice of two deserts.
Although the grey outlook through the large windows could have been more cheerful we were at least treated to one of our naval ships patrolling through the mists on the horizon.
With fresh coffee and of course wines and beers available at the well stocked bar, plus the ambiance of the beautifully decorated restaurant with multicoloured Chinese lanterns to herald the approaching spring (according to our hostess), conversation flowed freely at all the tables and the lunch was a great success.
