WELCOME

AGM & Mid-Winter Xmas Lunch


We are pleased to report that we had over 100 guests at our AGM. Significant matters are reported below. The meeting resolved to increase Annual Subscriptions to $15 per person remember the subscription year runs from 01 July until 30 June in the following year. If you haven't already paid, subs. are due now.

Many thanks to all for offering to take up positions in the Club. Annual Financial Accounts were presented to the meeting which show the Club is in a good financial position, investing smartly, so that we can continue to subsidise events.  

 

We want to ensure that all members have a good knowledge of the club and its operations. We will ensure that AGM information is available to you all and will strive to keep you informed  prior to the meeting. Remember that the Officers and Committee members are available to answer any questions you may have at any time. 



 


COMING EVENTS Auckland Botanic Gardens

WHERE: 102 Hill Road, The Gardens, Auckland 2105 WHEN:   Wednesday 25 September
WHAT TIME: At your leisure, friends are welcome.  Lunch at 12 noon.
BOOKINGS CLOSE: 31 August

Entrance is FREE, so arrive when it suits you, and enjoy a stroll at your leisure around Spring blossoms, flowers and native flora and fauna. Miko Cafe provides a set lunch for groups, which will be served at 12 noon - $22 per person. This consists of quiche, salad, two slices, tea and coffee.

Our Christmas lunch is booked for Wednesday, 4 December 2024 at the Remuera Club. Bookings will open closer to the time.

Upcoming Events

Your Committee is looking at the possibility of having a boat trip on the heritage Jane Gifford based at Warkworth. It would include a trip down the Mahurangi river to Scotts landing and return to Warkworth in the summer time. More about this later.

Air New Zealand’s longest-serving Flight Attendant retires


In a world where job-hopping is normal, it seems unimaginable that someone would stay in the same job for 52 years. Yet, that’s exactly what 74-year-old Ron Twine has done. Now after more than half a century working as a flight attendant with Air New Zealand, he’s gearing up to wear his cabin crew uniform for the last time. After he officially retires, Twine plans to dedicate more time to one of his most beloved hobbies, golf. Read the full article here

The Paris Olympics

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are underway and the 197 strong New Zealand team will be doing their utmost to bring home the medals.



A ceremony outside a stadium

For the first time in the history of the Olympic Summer Games, the Opening Ceremony took place outside of a stadium. Paris 2024 broke new ground by bringing sports into the city and holding the Opening Ceremony in the heart of the city along its main artery: the Seine.
