March 2023

Summer has now been and gone, but for many around the country it will be remembered as the Summer of Cyclone Gabrielle. We hope all our members are safe and secure, and we look forward to meeting up again in more favourable circumstances.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH REPORT

The club held its Christmas lunch at the Remuera Club on Wednesday, 7 December.

123 members and partners attended. Three hampers and 10 bottles of wine were raffled off to some lucky winners.

Our guest speaker was Richard Thomson, CFO of Air New Zealand, who is also a private pilot. He updated the guests of Air New Zealand’s financial position, explaining it was sound and promising for the future as well as giving us a glimpse of environmentally friendly aviation developments.

Judging by the chatter and laughter people had a very enjoyable time at this venue.

In June every year we hold the Annual General Meeting followed by a lunch and time for socialising. One of the agenda items is to elect the Management Committee who ensure that the club runs smoothly and who organise and plan the various events during the year. The committee usually meets every two months and some members have specific roles to play. Our club rules state that the management committe shall consist of up to 10 full members, plus the past-president for one more year. Not all of the present members will be available for re-election, plus we need at least three new members to operate effectively.

Please give serious consideration to coming on board for a year or two at least, and/or shoulder tap someone you know who could be an effective committee member.
